Carbon Outreach Studies – New Jersey

ADVM2 environmental consultants worked with NJ Department of Environmental Protection to develop a curriculum for high school students that encompassed better understanding pollution sources and sinks.  ADVM2 developed the curriculum around portable aethalometers.  The courses tasks students with developing an understanding of black carbon sources and sinks, devising an experiment to test their hypotheses, conducting the experiment, and summarizing their findings.  ADVM2 personnel deployed to NJ and worked with several high schools to test and refine the curriculum module.  The final module was submitted to NJ DEP and it now available on their web page for use by state high schools.  NJ DEP has set up a program that allows the high schools to check out portable aethalometers for use in the program.
